June 21, 2010 -
Protect-A-Bed, a leading
provider of sleep hygiene
products, is celebrating World
Continence Week by sponsoring
and exhibiting at an
incontinence-focused public
health fair from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m. on June 23 at the James R.
Thompson Center in downtown
Chicago.
World Continence Week (June
21-27), a creation of the
International Continence
Society, is designed to build
awareness of incontinence issues
and treatments. It's estimated
that more than 33 million
individuals are affected by
incontinence in the United
States. At the Chicago public
health fair, healthcare
professionals and incontinence
product providers will be on
hand to start a dialogue with
people about incontinence and
their treatment options.
"Incontinence is not something
people should be ashamed of or
silent about", said
Protect-A-Bed CEO James Bell.
"World Continence Week is all
about giving individuals the
tools they need to understand
and manage their incontinence
issues. Protect-A-Bed is proud
to be involved in this valuable
awareness-building initiative,
and we're excited to share our
discreet and comfortable bedding
protection products with
attendees of the Chicago public
health fair."
Chicago-based Protect-A-Bed is
an international provider of
sleep hygiene products. The
company's mattress protectors
are made of a super soft, ultra
thin, lightweight material that
is waterproof, absorbent and
easy to transport. The mattress
covers feature Protect-A-Bed's
patented Miracle Membrane®
durable polyurethane laminate,
which provides ultimate mattress
protection, yet is cool,
comfortable and quiet to sleep
on. Protect-A-Bed mattress
covers are machine washable and
can be tumble dried.
Protect-A-Bed is filling a
growing need for high quality,
discreet incontinence products.
Previously, those suffering from
incontinence were limited to
plastic bed covers that made
sleep uncomfortable and
incontinence issues obvious to
others.
"Unfortunately, many
incontinence sufferers are
unaware of the treatment options
and products available to them",
said Diane Newman of the
University of Pennsylvania's
Center for Continence and Pelvic
Health. "Companies like
Protect-A-Bed are meeting an
important need by creating
discreet incontinence products.
World Continence Week and health
fairs like those being held in
Chicago, create a forum for
these companies and for health
professionals to share their
expertise with those who need
it."
The James R. Thompson Center is
located at 100 West Randolph St,
Chicago, Ill., 60601. For
