Leggett & Platt has
hired Herman Tam as the new vice
president of sales and marketing
for their Consumer Products
Group. Tam comes from Dacor,
makers of residential luxury
cooking equipment, where he
served as the senior director of
marketing.
“Herman Tam was hired because of
his in-depth experience in
strategic marketing, brand
management, product development
and commercialization, market
and business development, and
building strategic
partnerships,” said Rob Woods,
president of Leggett & Platt’s
Consumer Products Group.
“Herman’s extensive marketing
background combined with his
passion for home goods has
brought tens of millions of
dollars' worth of new business
to previous employers by
building premium brands and
effectively marketing
high-value, differentiated
products to end consumers. We
are thrilled to have him on our
team.”
Prior to joining Leggett &
Platt, Tam served as senior
director of marketing at Dacor,
a luxury kitchen appliance
brand. There, he was charged
with formulating and executing
brand, product innovation,
marketing and customer
experience strategies. Earlier
in his career, Tam gained a wide
range of knowledge in developing
and marketing incremental,
breakthrough and disruptive
innovations with leading brands
such as James Hardie, Valmont
Industries, Cummins and IKEA.
Tam is a graduate of Vanderbilt
University where he earned an
MBA with dual concentration in
marketing and finance. He
received a bachelor's degree in
business administration with a
concentration in marketing from
the Chinese University of Hong
Kong (CUHK). He lives in Irvine,
Calif., with his wife Ling, and
their 6 year old son Alec.
Tam oversees branding, strategic
and tactical marketing of sleep
accessory products for Leggett &
Platt’s Consumer Products Group.
In addition, he works closely
with cross-functional teams to
develop product, process and
marketing innovations. One of
the latest examples of his
innovative leadership on the
marketing front is the U.S.
patent pending Leggett & Platt®
Retail Solution™ and Leggett &
Platt® Home Collection™.

classically-trained marketer
with cross-industry experience,
and feel that I bring a fresh
approach and a unique
perspective to the sleep and
home furnishings industry.”
Tam continued, “For me, my home
serves as my personal sanctuary.
My 15 years of marketing
experience, mostly in the home
arena— including international
home furnishing retail,
architectural lighting, home
improvement products and luxury
appliances— have been spent
trying to help my customers
achieve that same experience.”

to apply his classic marketing
philosophy to improve the
organization’s product offerings
to retailers. “Throughout my
career, marketing has been my
passion and innovation my hobby,
so I feel that my personal
